Stray Bean started as a mobile coffee project and opened its first permanent spot in Beirut. They had a menu, an address, and a QR code pointing at a PDF.
PDF menus are worse than they look. They load slowly on a phone, they pinch and zoom badly, they are unreadable to anyone using a screen reader, and updating a price means someone has to open a design file. None of this is visible to the owner, because the owner never scans their own QR code standing outside in the sun.
Two pages. A homepage that says what the place is and where to find it, and a menu with thirty-odd items in five categories, priced and anchored so you can jump to what you want.
Statically rendered, so it is on screen before the phone has finished thinking about it.
The delivery integration and the maps link point at the tools they already use, rather than adding a system for them to maintain.
We did not build ordering, accounts, or a loyalty scheme. They were not asked for, and a coffee shop that has been open a few months should not be running software it does not need.
